[Back cover of the book:]

Many of us have imaginary friends. Nobody sees them but we play with them. We play with them with our small cars, dolls, we play family games. The doctors cannot do anything, because our friends do not exist and nothing can be done with them. We grow up gradually and few people know that these imaginary friends also grow up with us. We try to ignore these friends in adolescence, because we are learning to act logically, likewise people. But who does not know that the one who hides our stuff, like our ATM card, our birth certificate, our ID card, our passport, our pool card, our gym card, our metro card, and even our wedding invitation card, is more than an imaginary person?

[About the book - Back cover:]

“My father was a clown,

My father’s father was a clown,

My grandfather’s father was a clown,

My grandfather’s grandfather was not a clown!

He was a shroud seller.

But his father was again a clown.

In short… I should have become a clown too, but I dreamt of becoming a king from childhood.”

[About the book - Back cover:]

“This play is a narrative “on” and not “from” the life of Mansour Hallaj. In this narrative, the author has tried to challenge what the reader or the audience has created in their mind about Hallaj or other historical figures. The great volume of myths and legends that are created will be ruined and recreated with a new shade and form. We are not supposed to read heavy and complicated historical and literary work. We are neither reading history, nor poetry. Although we see all this, the names and words are games and hallucinations. There is no sign of Hallaj and we only listen to a woman who shares her loneliness with the dream of Hallaj and the children she has created with her imaginary imprisoned husband. From all the dimensions of Hallaj’s life, from theosophy to politics, from combat to deportment, what has happened and happens to the women of these great men in history is the concern of the character in this text and narrative.”

[About the book- From the book’s preface:]

This book is the result of research by a group of young Tehrani people, over 18 years old, who have come back to their real home (Tehran) after many years of residing in the moon, in Mars, and other planets, so that they can get to know their city more than before.

[Fake quotes about the book on the back cover:]

-I called my therapist right after reading this book. I felt a sense of citizenship in all my cells. I never honked the horn again when I was under a pedestrian bridge and I never put the cats’ food beside the trash can. I suggest reading this book at 5 minutes to 9, every night.

(Javier Bardem – upon receiving the Oscar in 2008)

-It is a shocking and mysterious book and sometimes unbearably sorrowful. Sometimes it is so powerful that the reader really feels it and hears his own breathing sound. This book is an indescribable collection. Comprehension of mortality is a great teacher and a source for enlightenment. Having a guru who shares this experience with us, is the subject of intelligence. For sure this book deserves to win at least one or two prizes and I have no doubt that it will.

(Dr. Uni Sigel – London Times Newspaper – from the cover of Tuesdays with Mori)
